Warcraft II: Remastered – Orc Fest [Review]

Put on your troll-skin boots—it’s time to return to Azeroth, where the orcs are once again restless and in need of a lesson in etiquette. While Warcraft II: Remastered has seen a little more effort put into it than Warcraft I: Remastered, it still suffers from the same issue: cheap AI slop, masquerading as improvements. Now, to be fair, it runs better and much smoother than the original (I tried), but the new visuals and the upscaled CGI cutscenes are of poor quality. This means that the only part you pay for is the increased performance, as everything besides that is worse, or on the same level as the original.

Echoes of the Living – Early Access Impressions

Let’s just start by saying: Wow, what a conflicting experience Echoes of the Living has been. While the devs (a couple) behind the game really poured everything they’ve got into the game, and succeeded going by classic survival horror standards—I can’t help but feel a peculiar tedium wash over me after giving it eight hours. Hence, my inner conflict. See, I recognize it’s a well-made game (especially after the major 0.1 Save update), but my mind just constantly wanders off during play—hitting me with questions like: Am I wasting my time here?

NORSE: Oath of Blood – Viking Retribution [Review]

The Viking saga NORSE: Oath of Blood is here, and it’s primarily a bitter tale of revenge—fitting for the historical theme of the game. When I tried the demo, I came to like it, but it was clear to me that it needed a lot of polish and optimization. Did they succeed? Not quite, in any real sense to be totally honest. I was expecting a Viking X-com, but instead got a very linear experience with a heavy focus on narrative and cutscenes.

The X-Files: Resist or Serve – Tunguska Oil Menace [Review]

I want to believe… that there is a good X-files game out there. Believing is one thing, getting it is another. I’m not saying The X-Files: Resist or Serve is terrible, because it’s not. It’s not exactly great, either. Enjoyable yes, somewhat faithful to the lore for the X-Files buffs, with “janky” as its middle name. So, for everyone climbing on board, be warned! You will be in for a rough ride! Before anything else, some technical things.

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance – Twi’lek Adventures

Time to dive into the world of handhelds with Ubisoft’s third-person Twi’lek action game: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance, on the PSP. I saw this game by chance on some random top ten list, and from that moment I knew I had to give it a go. Lethal Alliance is essentially a long-lost title that has managed to evade me all these years – in a franchise that is otherwise pretty much fine combed for hidden gems. Stuff like this makes even the most jaded gamer shiver with anticipation. Rare excitement incoming in the form of an obscure Star Wars title!
