Jagged Alliance 3 – Abandoned? [Video]

One of the best franchise revivals in recent times was Jagged Alliance 3, which had its release three years ago. Time flies, huh? Jagged Alliance 3 was a good game, so naturally most of us expected that the franchise wouldn’t go dormant again so soon after such a strong resurrection, but it did. And honestly, it’s a complete and utter waste, considering how cool the series is, and how good a job the developer Haemimont Games did. Not one DLC, not even a single word about the future of the franchise. In this excellent video by Kordanor’s Gaming Lair—Kordanor (he kinda looks like a JA merc) talks about these issues: why things stalled, and what to expect.

It’s mostly speculation, of course, but he does clear up a few things. Such as who owns what now (IP, dev team), a fact that makes this much more complicated than one thinks. The future isn’t looking too bright though… Video after the jump!

The Journey of Marvin Mobuto [Halo Animation]

It has been a while since we watched a fan animation of a game, so here is NotPipi with The Journey of Marvin Mobuto. It’s a tragic, but also slightly amusing tale of a marine onboard the Pillar of Autumn—the lone survivor of his squad after crashing into Halo in his escape pod. Now, this guy is badass, as shown in the film, yet his fate was sealed as soon as he ran into 343 Guilty Spark. If you understand what I mean. Watch it after the jump!

Trespasser: Jurassic Park’s Biggest Failure? – A History [Video]

Oh God, let there be ammo in this thing!

Trespasser could be one of the most mythical games to me thanks to its theme (Jurassic Park), year of release (in my youth), and the general mysterious feel of the game. I’m glad the excellent YouTuber Monotonal Lizard | MNTM is here to pull back the curtains and let the sunlight in to demystify it. However, only to a certain degree. After sitting through his six-hour mastodon project, I still feel Trespasser is surrounded by mystique, despite its clear, heavy faults. The Most Esoteric Video Game Ever Made | Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages [Video]

This deep-dive video about the very strange and legendary game Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages (1996) was dropped a few days ago by YouTuber Hey Peter. And so far, from what I’ve watched, I can’t do anything but praise it. It’s impressive, packed with information and weird lore both about the game in question and its eccentric creator, Harry Horse.

The reason I’m posting about it here is that Drowned God has been a fascination of mine for a few years, due to what the game is about (aliens, alternative history, and conspiracies) and the fate of its maker. I’m not going to spoil what here, but it involves murders and the esoteric cloak-and-dagger stuff fit for a King of conspiracy theories. It’s over 5 hours long, so make sure to bring a lot of coffee going in!

The Expanse Beta Left Me Worried… [Video]

Not the typical video I usually post about, but like the title of YouTuber Professor Khury‘s video—after seeing it, I become a tad worried myself. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a game by Owlcat Games that I’m very much looking forward to. It’s the sci-fi show The Expanse, made into a Mass Effect inspired RPG—so, what’s not to like? Bethesda Actually Hates New Vegas [Video]

If you want premium developer drama from the giants, you really want to watch this video. It has been said that Bethesda has been jealous of Obsidian’s success in Fallout: New Vegas, thanks to it outshining their own creation, Fallout 3.
