Not the typical video I usually post about, but like the title of YouTuber Professor Khury‘s video—after seeing it, I become a tad worried myself. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a game by Owlcat Games that I’m very much looking forward to. It’s the sci-fi show The Expanse, made into a Mass Effect inspired RPG—so, what’s not to like? Well, except the writing, that is, as shown in the video. Hit continue to watch it!
Now, it’s not a total black pill moment, but what is demonstrated here is absolutely atrocious, as it’s the worst form of dialogue writing ever created. Quippy in a tone of constant sarcasm, which more or less turns the whole world-building, and seriousness of the setting into a big joke. Aka, Marvel style writing. Oh boy, I truly hope it’s just a beta leftover, because this runs the risk of ruining the game if it’s going to be filled with this kind of writing.
