Dverghold – Early Access Release Date [Trailer]

Back in February this year, I gave the Dverghold demo a go and found it very appealing in both gameplay/mechanics and retro visual style. In other words: it was something to look forward to—if you enjoy blobbers, that is. And now a release date has been announced, which is closer than I expected: July 22, 2026. It comes with one drawback, though—an Early Access release.

It will be released in an unfinished state, but it will contain Chapter 1 of the story. I just hope it’s a success so we actually get to see the completion of the game—because EA, in the context of an indie developer, is truly a double-edged sword for early adopters. But I believe in Kvltgames!

EXODUS – Extended Gameplay Reveal [Gameplay trailer]

Is EXODUS the new Mass Effect? If we go by this twenty-minute narrated gameplay demonstration, there is a pretty good chance it is. Before watching this video, I honestly thought EXODUS was a semi-dead AAA project (like most of them). You know how it is—while it got the mechanics and gameplay down, it’s looking absolutely soulless yet here we are now. It actually comes off as genuinely fun, with a strange future to explore (sentient animals, anyone?), good third-person pop-a-mole combat (even has stealth), and classic choices & consequences to ponder.

Now, this could be a highly curated slice of gameplay, which it probably is, but I can’t help getting a bit hyped. I need a new massive third-person space-opera shooter to explore! Check out the video after the jump!

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn – Gameplay trailer [Trailer]

I’m a few days late to the party, but here we finally have a gameplay trailer for the upcoming RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Now, I’m not entirely convinced it contains enough gameplay to technically qualify as one, yet what little is shown is pretty darn good. It looks like the modern Mass Effect game that we never got, but we all yearned for. The only thing that earned a strong dislike from me is the floating health bars, so I really hope they make an option to turn that off.

Overall, it’s looking very intriguing, essentially what I want from a pop-a-mole in space. Not to forget, the Expanse universe is an excellent space opera setting that is similar to the universe of Mass Effect (in tone), so the devs have plenty of cool stuff to pick from. Check out the trailer after the click!

Stellar Tactics – Also coming soon!

Xenonauts 2 isn’t the only sci-fi title coming out of early access, with Stellar Tactics taking the lead with a release this month—the 30th. Now, these two games coming out together, after both seemingly spending a lifetime in early access limbo, is a very nice surprise for us turn-based aficionados. It will surely liven up the spring months for us gaming nerds. Sure, going outside to feel the sun warming our cheeks, but aliens, man! We have nasty aliens to defeat—Earth needs us, or in the case of Stellar Tactics: our ship and mercenary pals. Either way, it’s going to be an interesting time, as both games are big with lots of different sandbox elements. Check the 1.0 trailer after the jump!
