Crypts Of Carith – Demo Impressions

Since we are on a blobber roll, why not try another one! And this time we are playing the Crypts Of Carith demo, a turn-based blobber made by a solo developer. Right off the bat, I can say that this game certainly tickles the dungeon-crawling itch. The visuals do not impress me much, as it frankly looks a bit drab and empty. Yet the gameplay, which is based on some kind of ruleset akin to Dungeons and Dragons, made me feel right at home with the combat and dice rolls.

Dverghold – Dwarf Digging [Early Access Impressions]

If I got a coin every time the dwarves dug too greedily, I would have zero coins, since they would nick them too. This will not be a full review of Dverghold, since this Early Access release is far from finished. And I don’t mean buggy, as it’s actually very polished and stable, but there are camp followers that should serve a role but offer nothing at the moment. This means that I’d rather stop now and wait for the complete experience instead of spoiling the game piecemeal. Even so, let’s go over my impression of this EA release!

Dverghold – Early Access Out Now!

As most of us know, the dwarves in their greed can’t help but dig a little too deep—usually unearthing something foul that soon thereafter becomes a plague for everyone. Dverghold is no different, with you answering the call for massive underground cleanup. In other words, Dverghold is out in Early Access, with its first four dungeon levels to be explored. It’s a turn-based blobber, and when I tried the demo, I came to enjoy it a lot.

I’m hesitant about Early Access games nowadays, but Dverghold feels like a sure bet if you like these types of (rare) games. It’s incredibly cheap too, coming out to 13.16 euros for me, with a current 15% discount. So, go get it! Release trailer after the jump.

Dverghold – Early Access Release Date [Trailer]

Back in February this year, I gave the Dverghold demo a go and found it very appealing in both gameplay/mechanics and retro visual style. In other words: it was something to look forward to—if you enjoy blobbers, that is. And now a release date has been announced, which is closer than I expected: July 22, 2026. It comes with one drawback, though—an Early Access release.

It will be released in an unfinished state, but it will contain Chapter 1 of the story. I just hope it’s a success so we actually get to see the completion of the game—because EA, in the context of an indie developer, is truly a double-edged sword for early adopters. But I believe in Kvltgames!

HellSlave II: Judgment of the Archon – Demo Impressions

Welcome to the grey hellscape that is Earth—at least, that’s how I understand it. Our dear Earth has been completely ravaged by a group of demon lords, hell-bent on turning our blue little planet to into a pile of ash. But don’t fret—the mystical (good?) demon is here to provide humanity with one final chance (aka you)! HellSlave II: Judgment of the Archon is a turn-based dungeon crawler that works as a blobber of one. So no party—it’s solo time, baby!

Dverghold – Demo Impressions

Christmas must have come early this year, because here is yet another turn-based blobber on a grid. And just like the demo of Underkeep, the Dverghold demo is excellent too—landing right between feeling genuinely old-school and modern in the form of UI and snappiness. There doesn’t seem to be a way to create custom party members, which is a bit of a bummer. However, I understand the design decision, as it seems death is permanent. Meaning that the run will continue, even in defeat, as long as you have recruits for your dungeon diving gang back at base.
