The Most Esoteric Video Game Ever Made | Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages [Video]

This deep-dive video about the very strange and legendary game Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages (1996) was dropped a few days ago by YouTuber Hey Peter. And so far, from what I’ve watched, I can’t do anything but praise it. It’s impressive, packed with information and weird lore both about the game in question and its eccentric creator, Harry Horse.

The reason I’m posting about it here is that Drowned God has been a fascination of mine for a few years, due to what the game is about (aliens, alternative history, and conspiracies) and the fate of its maker. I’m not going to spoil what here, but it involves murders and the esoteric cloak-and-dagger stuff fit for a King of conspiracy theories. It’s over 5 hours long, so make sure to bring a lot of coffee going in!

The Expanse Beta Left Me Worried… [Video]

Not the typical video I usually post about, but like the title of YouTuber Professor Khury‘s video—after seeing it, I become a tad worried myself. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a game by Owlcat Games that I’m very much looking forward to. It’s the sci-fi show The Expanse, made into a Mass Effect inspired RPG—so, what’s not to like? Well, except the writing, that is, as shown in the video. Hit continue to watch it!

Bethesda Actually Hates New Vegas [Video]

If you want premium developer drama from the giants, you really want to watch this video. It has been said that Bethesda has been jealous of Obsidian’s success in Fallout: New Vegas, thanks to it outshining their own creation, Fallout 3. In this video, YouTuber Ninethie Plays goes over what has been said and compiles it with commentary in one damning video. Thumbs up to Avellone for going all out and burning the old bridges. Check the out the video after the click!

How Big is Black Mesa? [Half-Life lore]

Here we have a relatively new video that covers the ever enigmatic Half-Life franchise: the size of the Black Mesa scientific facility specifically. It’s made by YouTuber moldbun that goes into great detail on the subject, using as much canonical information as possible. Meaning that the unofficial Black Mesa remake is not used for reference much. If you are like me, someone who thinks about Half-Life on a weekly basis—this will undoubtedly tickle your fancy.

Now if Valve would just stop making multiplayer slop for a moment and finish the series…

Stargate SG-1: The Alliance Trailer – Cancelled Game [Video]

Recently, I stumbled across information that there was a Stargate SG-1 game in the making, but for whatever insane reason, it was cancelled. Another sweet dream dead, because there aren’t many games set in this rich and wonderful universe. From what I know, we have the fan-made Stargate: Adventure, which is fine but very short. And Stargate: Timekeepers, a Commandos-style trial-and-error game that I didn’t like, nor did I play much at all, hence no review.

Slim pickings, which makes this gaming betrayal sting even harder. It was going to be a first‑person, squad‑based shooter where you get to control the legendary SG-1 team. Just check out the awesome trailer (and more) after the jump!
