ATOM RPG 2 – Kickstarter launched!

The boys at Atom Team are at it again, this time with a Kickstarter for ATOM RPG 2. The game looks to be turn-based still, with the same recognizable visual style as the other titles in the series—but with a few clear changes. A third-person camera seems to be an option now, and, of course, the damn driving! I approve.

I pledged 19 euros for the Caspian Wastelander tier. So now, the waiting begins for another RPG set in an apocalyptic world drenched in eastern flair. Check out the trailer below, and the Kickstarter page here!

Cralon – Demo Impressions

It’s time to try Björn and Jennifer Pankratz’s (former Piranha Bytes) game Cralon from their newly established studio, Pithead Studio. Cralon is a first-person dungeon crawler that is clearly inspired by the classic title Ultima Underworld. After finishing the short demo, the exploration and atmosphere sure are there. However, the combat will require some serious polishing, as it felt clunky and not very satisfying. But mood is one of the fundamentals to get right for a game like this—so, I’m glad they nailed this important aspect in the demo.

Of Ash and Steel – Demo Impressions

It’s rare, but sometimes it happens. That rare stumble upon a game that both has a fantastic demo, and a release date not set in the far future of 2035. Of Ash and Steel is this game, and after giving it three hours, I couldn’t help but give it two thumbs up! It’s an old-school RPG in the form of Risen—and trust me, I did the test. I swung my sword at the back of my host as thanks for nursing me back from death, and he promptly kicked my ass. But see, he didn’t kill me, he just knocked me out, called me something foul and took my bow as compensation. If that isn’t old-school “living-world” mechanics, I don’t know what is!
