ATOM RPG 2 – Kickstarter launched!

The boys at Atom Team are at it again, this time with a Kickstarter for ATOM RPG 2. The game looks to be turn-based still, with the same recognizable visual style as the other titles in the series—but with a few clear changes. A third-person camera seems to be an option now, and, of course, the damn driving! I approve.

I pledged 19 euros for the Caspian Wastelander tier. So now, the waiting begins for another RPG set in an apocalyptic world drenched in eastern flair. Check out the trailer below, and the Kickstarter page here!

D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict – Kickstarter!

This Kickstarter came as a surprise to me, as I thought D.O.R.F. was one of those games that was self‑financed and soon ready to go. But oh how wrong I was, because just recently they launched their Kickstarter campaign. It’s going really well at over 100% funded already when writing this post. This announcement also comes with a Kickstarter trailer, which you can watch after the click. It looks fantastic, appearing to become a great throwback to the RTS games of old. However, the estimated delivery date is Aug 2028.

Ouch! So it’s not a game around the corner exactly. But if you want them to take the project full‑time, make sure to send them some money!

Sword Hero – Kickstarter Launch!

Today, the 27th of January, the Kickstarter for the Gothic-inspired RPG Sword Hero launches! It’s not out just yet, but soon. So this is a call to arms to everyone who wants to see this game become reality. Prepare yourself, lay down your mouse and grab your sword—it’s time for medieval limb-cutting battles in a PlayStation 1 retro-visual style!

I tried the demo back in September last year, and it took me by surprise, showing huge potential for the future. However, it was just an arena test that showcased the combat system, which was awesome—but it left me more than curious about how a real RPG would be in a system-heavy game like this. So please, let’s make it a real thing! You will find the Kickstarter link here!

Update:
Aaaaaand, it’s up! Make sure to check out the Kickstarter video too. Video after the click!

Sword Hero demo – Success and future

It seems the Sword Hero demo was met with a lot of positivity by the public, which makes me happy, as the potential here for a solid action/rpg is huge. The developer has some interesting plans for the future. I thought the Kickstarter would be next on the list, but it isn’t. Work on the Alpha build takes priority, to have something more substantial for the Alpha backers when it releases. This means that the Kickstarter won’t launch until next year, January. Some time until then, in other words.

It makes sense, though, but I was sure the demo was the one showcase for Kickstarter. However, it doesn’t matter that much to me, beyond that it was a success. It would have been a waste to see all that potential run out into the sand. If you want to see his roadmap for the future, I have linked a picture after the jump!

The Sinking City 2 – Kickstarter

Frogwares just launched their Kickstarter for The Sinking City 2. So, if you want to see a sequel to this somewhat odd Lovecraftian third-person survival horror game, now is the time to invest. I enjoyed The Sinking City for the most part. However, I felt they totally fumbled the ending, coming off as pretty weak and linear. Also, having to run defense for Innsmouthers in the middle of the story felt strange and very forced. I guess, the lure of good-boy points by the press was too tempting, but it didn’t work at all for the narrative. Anti-racism only goes that far, after all. Here is the trailer:
