The X-Files Game – I want to Believe

Before we get into the meat and potatoes of The X-Files Game, I must say, the name convention is not the most inspired. Even calling it The X-Files: Mulder-is-in-it would have been better than what they went with. Regardless, The X-Files Game is an adventure game in the style of Full Motion Video (FMV), which sure is a novelty nowadays. It also has the cast from the show, with both Mulder and Scully making an appearance. So, the question remains, is it worth playing beyond the novelty? Read and find out!

Fallout: Bakersfield Trailer

Spotted this over at RPG Codex. It’s a total conversion of Doom from 1993, to, yeah, you know it: Fallout. What makes this stand out is that the creator has taken the bleak atmosphere from the first game, and essentially remade it into a first-person experience called Fallout: Bakersfield. So no happy-go-lucky 1950s aesthetics a la Bethesda here. It’s a pure apocalyptic wasteland hellscape that has more of a horror mood than anything else. The trailer, which you can see below, is awesome, and seems to indicate that it will be a mix between RPG elements and pure shooting. Two big thumbs up for the “Ry Cooder esque” guitar licks about one minute into the video.

Space Scum – Battle Brothers in space?

Discovered this game over at RPG Codex, and after watching the trailer shown: I’m hyped! Space Scum looks to take the gameplay and visual style of Battle Brothers and set it in space. You know what that means? Having your own (doomed?) mercenary company fighting slimy aliens, horrifyingly disfigured mutants and robots hell-bent on human eradication (I presume). It seems to be open-world too, as the game promises a sandbox experience over at their Steam page, which can only be a good thing in this type of game. Now, we just hope the mercenary company mechanics match Battle Brothers too. That losing a couple of guys is not necessarily the death of the company. They are promising a demo soon in August, so I’m looking forward to that. Make sure to keep an eye out if you think Space Scum looks intriguing! Trailer after the jump.

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance – Twi’lek Adventures

Time to dive into the world of handhelds with Ubisoft’s third-person Twi’lek action game: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance, on the PSP. I saw this game by chance on some random top ten list, and from that moment I knew I had to give it a go. Lethal Alliance is essentially a long-lost title that has managed to evade me all these years – in a franchise that is otherwise pretty much fine combed for hidden gems. Stuff like this makes even the most jaded gamer shiver with anticipation. Rare excitement incoming in the form of an obscure Star Wars title!

DERELIKT – Trailer

Yes, another trailer, but there’s just so much good stuff coming! This time we are checking out the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi FPS horror DERELIKT. It has glorious PlayStation One aesthetics, best compared to the title Alien Resurrection on the PS1 from the year 2000. I read on the developer’s Twitter (X) page that they managed to secure funding, essentially assuring the game will be completed.

When? Well, on Steam, the date says it will be in 2026. So, some time until then. Hopefully, it will not be an Early Access release, but I have a feeling it won’t be, thanks to the tweet above. It oozes confidence in a full game delivery. Check out the trailer after the jump!
