Colony Ship – Something Quick

After seven hard years of waiting, Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game is finally out. I have only given the game a test run for twenty minutes, so this won’t be a first impression or anything like that. It’s just a quick notice of things that are apparently missing. The things that are missing are a bit baffling to me, as this stuff seems very standard, and in general increase the “immershun” factor by ten if included. Now, I can’t say for certain that these things are missing for sure, but I can’t find a key or option for it. Here is the missing stuff:

Xenonauts 2 [Early Access] – Round Three

We are back at it boys! It’s time for round three of the Xenonauts 2 Early Access Beta. The game is now feature complete according to the developers. We have also entered milestone 2, which has extended Xenonauts 2 in several ways. I’m a bit unsure about the 180-day limit since I haven’t reached that far yet in my current playthrough. Hopefully, that block is now also gone.

Alan Wake 2 – Very Early Impressions

I got the chance to try out Alan Wake 2, and what can I say? Already from the start, I feel once again we have a game hyped up by the gaming press to be the second coming of Jesus, but as a game, it leaves much to desire. At least to me. I’m not saying it’s bad per se, but so far it’s been incredibly bland on the gameplay department, mixed with technical issues and performance woes.

Twin Peaks: Into the Night Impressions

Now this is a treat. A game based on the TV series Twin Peaks with a PS1 graphic style made in the vein of old survival horror games to boot. Boy, oh boy. Twin Peaks: Into the Night is an excellent demonstration of what could become something great in the future. However, as I see it there is one big complication attached here. I’m not talking about the production itself, but the licensing since the game doesn’t only borrow ideas from Twin Peaks, it is Twin Peaks! So, unless the developer Blue Rose Team plans to release the full game as something free, I don’t see how this could get made – yet stranger things have happened.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – Very Early Impressions

Like many others, I sat ready to play on release day with two main differences. I never really got caught up in the hype even if I was now eager to try it out, and I won my copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 (by luck), which removes the monetary investment from the equation. I think the money transfer clouds our judgment, I know it does for me sometimes. AAA games are expensive, especially nowadays. Can a game that cost this much and has been this hyped by bad? I must be playing it wrong – type of deal.
