Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer – Biking while Moody

Kathy Rain is back. A bit older, but as sassy as ever. However, her sassiness has not done her any good. Her P.I. agency is failing due to lack of money, and her best friend Eileen is now estranged. While Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer continues the tale of the foulmouthed biker chick, things have changed over the years. Some for the better, most for the worse. I did enjoy the first game, except for the ending, which I thought came a little too fast and loose. So, will Kathy Rain 2 be a better experience, tying everything up satisfactorily, or will it face the same fate? Let’s dive in.

Found this little thing…

Came across the announcement of Critical Shift in a forum post over at the Codex, and I felt compelled to share it here with my fellow tactical brothers. The gameplay looks like a modern turn-based Xcom title, with heavy SCP influence (but maybe not as silly as some SCP files). Critical Shift is taking place on an abandoned secret base in the Arctic, where researchers have dug up something they shouldn’t have, and now need help from you. Sounds like a true sci-fi classic in the making, at least story-wise. You see, I’m a sucker for everything involving scientists meddling in stuff nobody sane would touch with a ten-meter pole. It’s one of my favorite book genres, within sci-fi/horror. That, and tales of doomed expeditions, so I’m excited. The trailer looks damn cool as well, especially if you enjoy a little gore here and there. Check it out below.

Crysis 2: Remastered – New York Vacation

I was going to review the normal edition of Crysis 2, but as luck will have it, Humble Bundle had an awesome bundle filled with first-person sci-fi shooters for a really low price. The bundle included Crysis 2 Remastered, so, here we are. The major difference is the visuals, as everything else (at least from what I can remember) is exactly the same. Even the annoying tutorial messages that never let up. Yes, I know I can look around a corner with the left mouse-button, game! However, I have to say now already, with the new graphic rendering, Crysis 2 looks absolutely stunning.

Chains of Freedom – Liquid Loyalty

When I tried the demo back in February this year, I was pleasantly surprised. I expected nothing, yet got an interesting experience for my time downloading. Now, the transition from demo to full game does not always go smoothly, but I’m glad to say that the gameplay is exactly the same in the 1.0 release. The story also progresses as expected, and this could be considered good for almost every game, which is it in this case too. However, Chains of Freedom remains the same to its detriment, seeing as what you get in the demo, is what’s on the menu for the whole campaign.

Biohazard 4D-Executer (Resident Evil CGI Movie)

If you are ever in a mood for some true Resident Evil in movie format, look no further. Biohazard 4D-Executer is a masterpiece and is what the Hollywood movies fail to convey: tension and Resident Evil branded horror. It’s a movie produced by Capcom back in 2000, and it’s made entirely in juicy late 90s CGI. The original upload on YouTube is old, grainy, and has a bad aspect ratio, stretching the 4:3 format to 16:9 unnaturally. In other words, it looks bad on more than one front. So, I have linked an upscaled version down below, that’s actually in the correct format, making the viewing experience much better. Enjoy!
