I was going to review the normal edition of Crysis 2, but as luck will have it, Humble Bundle had an awesome bundle filled with first-person sci-fi shooters for a really low price. The bundle included Crysis 2 Remastered, so, here we are. The major difference is the visuals, as everything else (at least from what I can remember) is exactly the same. Even the annoying tutorial messages that never let up. Yes, I know I can look around a corner with the left mouse-button, game! However, I have to say now already, with the new graphic rendering, Crysis 2 looks absolutely stunning.

Chains of Freedom – Liquid Loyalty

When I tried the demo back in February this year, I was pleasantly surprised. I expected nothing, yet got an interesting experience for my time downloading. Now, the transition from demo to full game does not always go smoothly, but I’m glad to say that the gameplay is exactly the same in the 1.0 release. The story also progresses as expected, and this could be considered good for almost every game, which is it in this case too. However, Chains of Freedom remains the same to its detriment, seeing as what you get in the demo, is what’s on the menu for the whole campaign.

I just noticed on Steam that there is a turn-based Xcom-like game set in the Star Wars universe called Star Wars: Zero Company. According to the information available, it’s planned for a 2026 release. So, some time until then. At first, I didn’t think much about it, since I was sure it would be set in the new Disney era – the era of cringe. But it is not so. Instead, it’s set during the twilight of the Clone Wars, which should be a damn cool setting for a clandestine Xcom-style squad. A group of specialists put together to tackle the toughest of missions the republic can think up. However, what has me curious is that one of the team members is a Jedi. It has me concerned that this will eventually play out with the typical “Are we the baddies?” scenario with an allegiance switch. Considering Order 66 (the betrayal of the Jedi), and with the game being set late in the war. I really hope this isn’t the case, but it’s too early to worry about that now. Check out video announcement below:

Hello, and welcome to another top ten. The last time, I presented a top ten list over RPGs with a custom-made party. So, a list of RPGs with a fixed party feels like a natural pick for the next. I can’t say that there will be too many surprises on this list, seeing that I’m as much of a pleb as the next guy when it comes to taste.
While I do love my RPGs with a created crew. I can’t deny the allure of a well crafted story with intriguing pre-made companions, as it adds another dimension to roleplaying. That cool and collected lawful good Paladin that you like, might not see too kindly to your murder-hobo ways for loot. It forces a natural choice of character of whom you want to be and accomplish. Who will you align with – the forces of good, or the snakes in the grass?
Just like the first list, if a game isn’t on it, which you think should be, it’s because I haven’t played it, or I just didn’t like it. It’s that simple. The criteria for the games are: The game must feature a party, from at least two and up, and they must be integral to the story. Players also need to retain control over the party members when it comes to battles, and progression. Let’s begin!

Dead Space: Extraction is a rail shooter made by Visceral Games. It was released for the Wii, and Playstation 3 a few years ago. Since I don’t own any of these consoles I decided to play it on the PS3 emulator RPCS3 using a PS4 controller plugged into the computer. I had no issues at all, I didn’t even have to configure anything. It worked flawlessly right out of the box with the right buttons being presented on the screen for the tutorial stuff. The performance was also great with no visual glitches. So, while the gameplay isn’t much more than pointing, and pressing buttons to shoot aliens with the occasional reloading action, I got to say I had a grand time the few hours this game lasted.
