Dinolords – Trailer

Let’s continue with the dinosaur theme, and watch the trailer for Dinolords! It’s a game that is in flux regarding release date, but hopefully it will be let free to roam with the other dino games this year. It should be noted that the release will be Early Access. However, from what I have seen, it sure looks promising already, so that removes some angst with it being an EA title. I mean, medieval RTS warfare in England, with dinosaurs included? It’s so campy that it works, especially if the devs treat the story with sincerity, and do not go full Marvel writing. The whole thing reminds me of the old RTS game Paraworld. A game that showed great promise, but lacked in execution. Hopefully, Dinolords will dazzle us with shiny T-rex teeth (and gameplay). Trailer after the jump!

More survival horror with Liminal Point

The craze for more indie survival horror games continues unabated with Liminal Point by the two-man developer team HideWorks. The game is far from release, being set to launch next year according to Steam. However, a five-minute trailer was recently released with uncut gameplay, which allows for a peek into the mechanics, and the setting.

From what I can tell from the gameplay shown, it will be a top-down isometric experience, with a striking looking female protagonist. Gameplay, and tone seems to be a blend of classic horror a la Resident Evil, accompanied by a psychological aspect much like Silent Hill 2. The combat also seems to be somewhat more involved than the usual survival horror title. Melee seems to be skill-based, requiring dodges and timing when to attack. Star Wars embracing Xcom?

I just noticed on Steam that there is a turn-based Xcom-like game set in the Star Wars universe called Star Wars: Zero Company. According to the information available, it’s planned for a 2026 release. So, some time until then. At first, I didn’t think much about it, since I was sure it would be set in the new Disney era – the era of cringe. But it is not so. Instead, it’s set during the twilight of the Clone Wars, which should be a damn cool setting for a clandestine Xcom-style squad. A group of specialists put together to tackle the toughest of missions the republic can think up. However, what has me curious is that one of the team members is a Jedi. It has me concerned that this will eventually play out with the typical “Are we the baddies?” scenario with an allegiance switch. Considering Order 66 (the betrayal of the Jedi), and with the game being set late in the war. I really hope this isn’t the case, but it’s too early to worry about that now. Join the Airborne Rangers!

I noticed this little gem on X while scrolling through my usual junk. It’s a reimagining of a game from all the way back in 1987, called Airborne Ranger. And from what I have read, and seen from the trailers, it sure looks promising. A friend I showed the game to said it reminded him of Hidden & Dangerous, mixed with Men of War. I have to say, I agree with him, but I would like to add some Metal Gear Solid V into this blend. Airborne Ranger: FightOut promises a lot – from stealth, to tactical milsim stuff, all made for either solo play, or co-op up to four players. Since we haven’t had a good game in this style for ages, I’ll stay optimistic and look forward to it! I must add that it’s not out yet, and I didn’t notice a date anywhere. But I have a feeling we won’t have to wait for long. Check out the trailer below.
