The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians – A Quick Look

I have not finished The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians yet, so this won’t be a proper review. I have a feeling it’s going to take me a long while to do so, but I already want to give my thoughts / praise for the game. I have made it halfway through so far, and it has been a blast. It’s also incredibly brutal occasionally. I can easily say that I overvalued my abilities of succeeding in old-school RPGs (going by the mechanics). I started on “hard”, with me quickly being put in my place. However, it’s in no way impossible, and it’s actually not that advanced – it’s just a good challenge.

Underrail 2: Infusion – Video Quickie

Stygian Software released a pretty hefty video from their upcoming sewer crawling apocalyptic RPG Underrail 2: Infusion the other day. And I thought I would share it here, because it is certainly something to keep an eye on. Beyond the cool & soothing isometric camera angle, the environments, and the lighting, it looks great. Deus Ex: The Fall – Falling Sideways

If we go by Steam, Deus Ex: The Fall is not a popular game. I wouldn’t be surprised if you found its name next to “disliked” in the dictionary. However, that was then, and while it seems it had a disastrous release on Steam—nowadays, it plays fairly well, and looks a lot like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, albeit visually limited with restrictions to the gameplay. Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy [Early Access] is out!

Hurray, Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy is out! However, only in Early Access. It’s planned to stay in EA for about 1-1,5 years, so it’s unfortunately pretty far from being finished. What’s here already, is certainly top-tier, and plays into what I love about RPGs splendidly. Especially, if you are like me and enjoy the more low-key approach to adventuring: think early levels of the first Baldur’s Gate.

The Necromancer’s Tale – Demo Impressions

Ever wanted to be a Necromancer? Well, now is the time. Sadly, I never managed to reach that stage in the demo, but from my two invested hours, the Necromancer’s Tale showed true RPG potential for the future. I base this on the very interesting setup, good engaging writing, turn-based combat, inventory & loot, and plenty of skill checks that depend on your created character. Good stuff all around, so far.
