Sword Hero demo – Success and future

It seems the Sword Hero demo was met with a lot of positivity by the public, which makes me happy, as the potential here for a solid action/rpg is huge. The developer has some interesting plans for the future. I thought the Kickstarter would be next on the list, but it isn’t. Work on the Alpha build takes priority, to have something more substantial for the Alpha backers when it releases. This means that the Kickstarter won’t launch until next year, January. Some time until then, in other words.

It makes sense, though, but I was sure the demo was the one showcase for Kickstarter. However, it doesn’t matter that much to me, beyond that it was a success. It would have been a waste to see all that potential run out into the sand. If you want to see his roadmap for the future, I have linked a picture after the jump!

The Sinking City 2 – Kickstarter

Frogwares just launched their Kickstarter for The Sinking City 2. So, if you want to see a sequel to this somewhat odd Lovecraftian third-person survival horror game, now is the time to invest. I enjoyed The Sinking City for the most part. However, I felt they totally fumbled the ending, coming off as pretty weak and linear. Also, having to run defense for Innsmouthers in the middle of the story felt strange and very forced. I guess, the lure of good-boy points by the press was too tempting, but it didn’t work at all for the narrative. Anti-racism only goes that far, after all. Here is the trailer:

Vampire Syndicate: Gangs of MoonFall – Kickstarter

It’s time to once again promote a Kickstarter. This time, it’s the vampire cyberpunk RPG Vampire Syndicate: Gangs of MoonFall. It seems very ambitious coming from a solo dev, but from what is shown it looks impressive already. It’s a mix of first/third-person exploration with top-down turn-based combat taking place in some kind of cyberpunk dystopian nightmare, with vampires. Right up my alley. I should warn though, there will be explicit sexual themes in the game; in other words hardcore porn. However, going by what the developer told me, you don’t have to interact with that aspect of the game. I’m not personally into sex-games, so I’m glad that the “degeneracy” is a choice!

You can find the Kickstarter here, and you can find the game’s Steam page here (You must be logged in to see the page, because of age restriction). And by looking at the status of the Kickstarter, it’s more than eighty percent completed already. So, this is most likely a done deal already, but that shouldn’t hinder you from putting in some money, if the title interests you.

Heir of the Dog – Kickstarter

Today, the Heir of the Dog Kickstarter launches over at Kickstarter, and I thought I would just give everyone a heads-up. It looks to be a fun point & click adventure, with very typical British humor, set in the 1800s Victorian London. There is a demo, too, over at their Steam page. I tried it, and already, it feels very well-produced with a lot of comedy absurdity. Check it out!

Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy is a go!

Oh yeah, baby! I’m a bit late to the party, but it seems the AtomTeam made it. Swordhaven is fully financed through Kickstarter with about 67 hours to go from the posting of this article. I noticed that they already managed to hit one stretch goal – a player base. Not sure how excited I am about that particular addition since most RPGs that have some kind of home usually feel a bit undercooked. However, I’m glad to see they are making a few more bucks on top of what they wanted. Now to see if they can reach the next stretch goal – Cursed City. Which I have to admit sounds much more enticing, maybe because I live in one in real life. Who knows? Anyway, I’m happy to see they made it. Now the eternal wait begins.
