Cralon – Demo Impressions

It’s time to try Björn and Jennifer Pankratz’s (former Piranha Bytes) game Cralon from their newly established studio, Pithead Studio. Cralon is a first-person dungeon crawler that is clearly inspired by the classic title Ultima Underworld. After finishing the short demo, the exploration and atmosphere sure are there. However, the combat will require some serious polishing, as it felt clunky and not very satisfying. But mood is one of the fundamentals to get right for a game like this—so, I’m glad they nailed this important aspect in the demo.

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! – Demo Impressions

The eternal enemy of the human race is once again back to torment us. This time in the style of a chaotic retro shooter with a ton of gore—human and insect alike! Ardenfall – Demo Impressions

I decided to try the Ardenfall demo, which is an Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind-inspired RPG, set in a fantasy world that can best be likened to Vvardenfell—strange wildlife and all. Arma Reforger: Operation Omega – Back to 1989, baby! [Review]

Finally, Bohemia Interactive decided to release something for us single-player addicts—in the form of a mini-campaign doing commando stuff behind enemy lines. This, naturally, caught my attention, since so far the multiplayer-focused Arma Reforger has not interested me much—beyond a vague curiosity in testing the new and supposed improved engine, that is. So, was it worth the purchase? Read and find out!

Cralon – what is this?

It was a sad day when the legendary developer Piranha Bytes was shut down. But seeing as they floundered the Elex 2 release, it might not have been too unexpected. However, out of the ashes, something new can rise, and it wasn’t long before Jenny and Björn Pankratz announced their new study Pithead Studio. And the other day, they released their first video from their new upcoming dungeon crawler, Cralon. These guys work hard & fast, as I thought we were years out, but here we are! Check out the video below:
