Airborne Rangers – Devlog 2 [AI, ragdolls & destruction]

I made a post about Airborne Rangers back in April this year. It presented the initial announcement trailer that looked very promising. Especially if you are into military simulations like Arma 3, with co-op as the core. Now, the developer team BlowPunch Gameworks has released a devlog in video format that showcases some truly cool stuff. We get an impressive ragdoll/gore system, detailed destructible environments and an AI that actually uses tactics, and looks challenging to defeat.

And with that, my hype has doubled. Could this be the first realistic tactic game in ages – a spiritual sequel to Men of War that will be good? The future will tell, of course, but I will allow myself to feel a little hype. Check out the video for yourself after the jump!

Hell is Us – The free comic! [Quick review]

Hell is Us is soon to be released. The fourth of September, so less than two weeks. It’s one of the few semi-high production games I look forward to, and might actually buy on release day, since I truly enjoyed the demo. If that happens, it will be a first in many years for me, which feels like a nostalgic blast from the past when this was more commonplace. Now, onto the comic. In a previous post, I told you about a free comic they were planning to release. To explain why our protagonist, Rémi, left the Peace Corps, seeing as the game starts with us wandering the dark Hadea forest alone, but in peacekeeper uniform.

My Top 10 ZOMBIE games on PC

Ah, zombies! The most overused modern monster in any medium. Despite that, I can’t get enough of the zombie apocalypse. However, in my opinion, most creators miss the mark by turning their projects into mindless zombie slaughters, without any of the famous tension or civilization-ending dread from the Romero days. Yet, there are some titles that headshot their way to great atmosphere and storytelling!

So, here are my Top 10 Zombie Games for PC.

Darkest Hour – The mod that refuses to die!

For those who don’t know, Darkest Hour is a fantastic stand-alone mod based on the classic WW2 shooter Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. That means it’s free to play on Steam if you own that game, and if you don’t, it’s usually crazy cheap to buy. Anyway, the mod creators have once again released a major expansion for their fabulous mod. This time Italy, with plenty of new weapons, maps, and vehicles matching the new campaign. It all looks absolutely stunning. Check out the trailer below for yourself. I’m going to give Darkest Hour a go again, after a long break. Maybe I will see you on the EU servers!

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance – Twi’lek Adventures

Time to dive into the world of handhelds with Ubisoft’s third-person Twi’lek action game: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance, on the PSP. I saw this game by chance on some random top ten list, and from that moment I knew I had to give it a go. Lethal Alliance is essentially a long-lost title that has managed to evade me all these years – in a franchise that is otherwise pretty much fine combed for hidden gems. Stuff like this makes even the most jaded gamer shiver with anticipation. Rare excitement incoming in the form of an obscure Star Wars title!
