The Descendant – Blast from the Past

If you ever want to play a somewhat forgotten sci-fi adventure in the style of the Telltale games, I got something special for you. It’s hard not to notice where The Descendant got its inspirations, seeing as many things work exactly like the typical Telltale adventure. It has characters that will “remember” things you do, it has a very heavy focus on story, and it’s fairly easy, going by point & click terms. If you hate these kinds of games, this will do nothing for you. However, if you, like me, loves a good dramatic narrative from time to time that does not have Dark Souls level of challenging gameplay, this is certainly something to pick up.

Jurassic Park: The Game – Barbasol Edition

Jurassic Park: The Game is a Telltale Games production, so you know what you are getting when starting this piece of interactive media. It will be all quick-times events of various difficulty, spliced with stiff cartoon animations and the occasional point & click adventure puzzle of old thrown in for good measure. What it got, and what makes it unique, is the wonderful Jurassic Park license. And what do you know, they actually do a good job of using it, with a minimum of cringe-inducing scenes and flat-out lore contradictions.

Gone is the heavily penciled-in comic book style and is now replaced with full Unreal 3D glory with a semi-realistic approach. To truly enjoy Star Trek: Resurgence it all comes down to personal expectations (as usual), so the sane approach (which I took) is to leave any form of system interaction at the door going in. And if you can do that, you are in for a pretty good time!

Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series

As usual, when it comes to Telltale games their focus is on the narrative with a minimum of gameplay besides quick-time-events. Their Game of Thrones take is no different, and I think, as long as you know what you get into, this lack of gameplay shouldn’t really bother you as long as the story is entertaining. So, does Telltale do justice to the grim world of a Song of Ice and Fire?
