Animated Resident Evil 2 in the works (fan project!)

I came across this trailer that is about a year old now, and what can I say? The animations and the visuals are pretty darn good, and it has that charming jank I love about machinimas of the past. Like many of the more intriguing Resident Evil fan projects out in the wild, the creator Atlier is making sure the atmosphere of the old PS1 & PS2 games is maintained in his vision of Resident Evil 2. What is also interesting here (going by the trailer) is that there are scenes from at least two other games in it: Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil: Outbreak. Both of which take place during the chaos of Raccoon City. I’m curious how he will incorporate these two games (if that is the plan) into one full length movie. Ambitious, but cool!

The video is a year old now, thus, it’s fair to think the animated film is dead in the water. However, it’s not his latest video – that’s only 6 months old. So, I got faith in it, and I’m hoping it will be as good as the trailer indicates. Check it out after the jump!

Space Scum – Battle Brothers in space?

Discovered this game over at RPG Codex, and after watching the trailer shown: I’m hyped! Space Scum looks to take the gameplay and visual style of Battle Brothers and set it in space. You know what that means? Having your own (doomed?) mercenary company fighting slimy aliens, horrifyingly disfigured mutants and robots hell-bent on human eradication (I presume). It seems to be open-world too, as the game promises a sandbox experience over at their Steam page, which can only be a good thing in this type of game. Now, we just hope the mercenary company mechanics match Battle Brothers too. That losing a couple of guys is not necessarily the death of the company. They are promising a demo soon in August, so I’m looking forward to that. Make sure to keep an eye out if you think Space Scum looks intriguing! Trailer after the jump.

The Blood of Dawnwalker – (strange) Gameplay Overview video

Boy, this is a weird one! While the game looks somewhat interesting thanks to the setting (medieval Europe setting with vampires) and it being an RPG – The Blood of Dawnwalker feels extremely derivative of the games The Witcher 2 & 3. I don’t mean tiny bits of general gameplay here. Everything feels and looks like it has been copied directly from those titles. The UI, the map, and icons, the investigation mechanics, the floaty death-of-thousand-cuts combat, Hex magic and then the visuals itself. What the hell is going on here? I have never seen a presentation like this before, where every segment of a game being showcased reminds me exactly of an older title.

DERELIKT – Trailer

Yes, another trailer, but there’s just so much good stuff coming! This time we are checking out the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi FPS horror DERELIKT. It has glorious PlayStation One aesthetics, best compared to the title Alien Resurrection on the PS1 from the year 2000. I read on the developer’s Twitter (X) page that they managed to secure funding, essentially assuring the game will be completed.

When? Well, on Steam, the date says it will be in 2026. So, some time until then. Hopefully, it will not be an Early Access release, but I have a feeling it won’t be, thanks to the tweet above. It oozes confidence in a full game delivery. Check out the trailer after the jump!

Dinolords – Trailer

Let’s continue with the dinosaur theme, and watch the trailer for Dinolords! It’s a game that is in flux regarding release date, but hopefully it will be let free to roam with the other dino games this year. It should be noted that the release will be Early Access. However, from what I have seen, it sure looks promising already, so that removes some angst with it being an EA title. I mean, medieval RTS warfare in England, with dinosaurs included? It’s so campy that it works, especially if the devs treat the story with sincerity, and do not go full Marvel writing. The whole thing reminds me of the old RTS game Paraworld. A game that showed great promise, but lacked in execution. Hopefully, Dinolords will dazzle us with shiny T-rex teeth (and gameplay). Trailer after the jump!
