My Top 10 RPGs with Fixed Parties on PC

Hello, and welcome to another top ten. The last time, I presented a top ten list over RPGs with a custom-made party. So, a list of RPGs with a fixed party feels like a natural pick for the next. I can’t say that there will be too many surprises on this list, seeing that I’m as much of a pleb as the next guy when it comes to taste.

While I do love my RPGs with a created crew. I can’t deny the allure of a well crafted story with intriguing pre-made companions, as it adds another dimension to roleplaying. That cool and collected lawful good Paladin that you like, might not see too kindly to your murder-hobo ways for loot. It forces a natural choice of character of whom you want to be and accomplish. Who will you align with – the forces of good, or the snakes in the grass?

Just like the first list, if a game isn’t on it, which you think should be, it’s because I haven’t played it, or I just didn’t like it. It’s that simple. The criteria for the games are: The game must feature a party, from at least two and up, and they must be integral to the story. Players also need to retain control over the party members when it comes to battles, and progression. Let’s begin!

Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun – Sunglasses Required

How about some 16-bit Mega Drive (Genesis in US) D&D? Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun might not be a masterpiece, but it sure has charm! Crowned In Steel – Demo Impressions

The Conan simulator is here, or at least the demo. I would love to state that Crowned In Steel does a remarkable job at what it set out to do, but I had some minor problems with it. Which, to be fair, is probably a skill issue from my side. So, while it does a fine job looking, and feeling the part, the gameplay is a bit confusing to my old brain, and does not entirely sync with the combat.

Gothic 1 Remake – Demo Impressions

The first demo that was released a couple of years ago for the Gothic 1 Remake wasn’t met with much positivity. It had awkward combat, with what I remember, pretty stale dialogue. So, have the Spanish team Alkimia Interactive learned anything from the feedback provided then? Well, I’m glad to say: a resounding yes. The demo now feels like a totally different game from the old release, much more in line with the classic Gothic title. The tone, and feel of it is there, and the combat system has changed for something much more fun!

Solasta 2 – Demo Impressions

Tactical Adventures recently released a demo for Solasta 2, and being a fan of their first game, Solasta: Crown of the Magister, I couldn’t help but throw myself over the demo. But before eagerly diving in, I had some concerns since its announcement, seeing as they now have ditched the game engine Unity for Unreal, starting development fresh from scratch. To my surprise and delight, I didn’t have to worry. Solasta 2 looks absolutely phenomenal, and it runs well too – considering the engine.
