Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – Initial Impressions

I like Indiana Jones as much as the next guy, well, the first three films at least. So, it was with some excitement that I started Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Game Pass. In my first ten or so hours, I would say; it’s a pleasant surprise. It runs well enough, too, and looks good (for the most part). However, if I set the ray tracing to anything above low, or perhaps medium, the FPS tanks. Not too surprising, maybe, since I’m only on a 3070 GPU. All in all, the game feels like a modern 3D version of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

Four games to look forward to! [Steam Next Fest]

It’s once again time for Steam Next Fest, and as usual, it will absolutely drown you in a variety of demos. Unsurprisingly, many games are terrible, but if you are willing to trudge through the sludge of cheaply made asset flips, there are a few gems to dig up from the muck. Silent Hill 2: Remake – Not for me

Being a fan of the Silent Hill franchise, and a survival horror junkie, I had to give Silent Hill 2: Remake a go. And while it does look the part, at least from a visual standpoint. I find it falling way too short of capturing the feel of the original. Now, I have to point out. This is not a review. I have only played it for a couple of hours, so this will be my initial impressions, which unfortunately turned me off from completing it.

Black Mesa: Blue Shift – Impressions

I decided to try the Black Mesa: Blue Shift mod for Black Mesa to sate my current Half-life addiction. While it’s more of the fantastic Half-life universe and does satisfy some of the cravings, it has a couple of issues. Blue Shift is a remake of the expansion Blue Shift made by Gearbox for Half-life. I never played the expansion back in the day, so I don’t know much about it, but from what I have read, the mod is supposed to be a pretty faithful recreation. Otherwise, you might think; what would be the point? Anyway, much like Black Mesa, which itself is a remake of Half-life, the quality of the work here is substantial, and matches the same level of dedication. However, while the work by itself is impressive, I can’t say I enjoyed the gameplay all the way through. I should also mention that the mod is not finished. Only the four first chapters are complete, while missing the final four.
