Chameleon – Forgotten Stealth

Chameleon is a stealth action game made by the guys behind Hidden & DangerousMafia, and the Vietcong franchise. They were known as Illusion Softworks, and like many game developers from the past, they are no more. The thing that makes Chameleon interesting is that it was only released in Eastern Europe since it didn’t see proper publishing in the West. However, thanks to Internet magic it is now playable for us Westerners. Somewhat.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – Popping Moles

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (for Windows 10) is a remaster of the original Gears of War that came out in 2006 for Xbox 360. It was made by Epic Games, and it was a big financial success, popularizing the third-person shooter with cover mechanics. The remaster is made by The Coalition, which has also made the modern 4th, and 5th games in the series. I played it with an Xbox 360 controller to maintain the feel of the 360-days.

Sniper Elite 5 – Vive La France!

Sniper Elite 5 is an action/stealth game by Rebellion, and there is with some excitement I press the play button, considering Sniper Elite 4 is one of my favorite modern stealth games. But as with everything modern Rebellion now touches, it turns out a bit lackluster. It’s also a one-step forward, two-step backward kind of situation with baffling design decisions. Sometimes I really wonder…

Tails of Iron – Rat Life

Tails of Iron is a 2D action/adventure platformer with light RPG elements made by the British studio Odd Bug Studio. A bit on the “dime a dozen” nowadays, but what makes this title stand out from the rest is the intense care and love that went into it. It’s absolutely beautiful, with charming art, story, and characters. Yet, as we all know, graphics and setting aren’t everything. Luckily for us gamers, Tails of Iron hold its own on the gameplay front too!

The Last of Us 2 – Retcon Central

Like many others, I consider The Last of Us a true gaming classic. It was a fine blend of survival horror, and excellent story-telling with captivating characters you learned to care for. So, the wait for the sequel was not without hype, but unfortunately, the story leaks would crush any longing to once again take the helm of Joel & Ellie. Two years after release, I would get the chance of playing the game through a rental service at my local library. I’m not sure what overcame me since I knew the sequel would butcher the characters I once liked, but I guess I wanted to see the disaster for myself. PS. The references to P. D. James and Philip K. Dick were not lost on me!
