D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict – Kickstarter!

This Kickstarter came as a surprise to me, as I thought D.O.R.F. was one of those games that was self‑financed and soon ready to go. But oh how wrong I was, because just recently they launched their Kickstarter campaign. It’s going really well at over 100% funded already when writing this post. This announcement also comes with a Kickstarter trailer, which you can watch after the click. It looks fantastic, appearing to become a great throwback to the RTS games of old. However, the estimated delivery date is Aug 2028.

Ouch! So it’s not a game around the corner exactly. But if you want them to take the project full‑time, make sure to send them some money!

Command & Conquer: The Motion Comic [Animated Comic]

Here is something I totally missed back in the day. A short animated comic set in the world of Command & Conquer. It’s official promotional material, too, so I assume it’s canonical—if you consider Command & Conquer 4 to be canon. The fourth and final game in this wonderful franchise was unfortunately a true tiberium infected mutant abomination, which I believe killed the series. Nonetheless, a cool comic was created to set up the story.

Now, it’s not the most intricate tale, yet it gives us a glimpse into the life of the ordinary citizen after the worldwide pandemonium that was Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. In general, it seems life is somewhat restored. However, severe tension between the two factions remains. All very understandable, but I wish the comic showed more of this world-building, because it was easily the most interesting part. Video after the jump!

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – What the hell?

I was feeling for some casual tactical pop-a-mole, so I popped the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier disc into the good old Xbox 360—a game I bought for this specific reason months ago. What I didn’t expect was that the series had turned so casual, it now ventured into Call of Duty territory. It had become so casual that the incredibly heavily scripted nature of a CoD campaign was now part of the Ghost Recon franchise. I was actually taken aback a little, since this is the opposite of what the series once was.

Crimson Freedom – what’s this?

Discovered the upcoming RTS Crimson Freedom by the all mysterious algorithm on Twitter (X)—and for once I can say it did a pretty good job. No societal decay shoved into my face today to increase my ever-growing despair for the future, just pure enjoyment—thanks Elon! Jokes aside, this is a pleasant surprise, because it looks great from a visual standpoint, in a setting that never fails: sci-fi war on Mars. Other things that make this a contender is that it’s singleplayer focused, with three distinct factions. And, the Steam page promises a focus on Macro, instead of Micro. Thank the Martian gods for that, as too much micro is a modern curse upon the RTS genre. Check out the cool gameplay trailer after the jump!

Fallout Operation: Sunburst [Film]

The Fallout franchise once again invites us to watch a fan-made film, made by YouTuber SODAZ. What is cool about Fallout Operation: Sunburst, is that it takes a fascinating event (Battle for HELIOS One) from Fallout: New Vegas that you just heard about and makes a whole war movie out of it. In-game, and lore-wise, it’s a pivotal incident that formed the fate of New Vegas—so it was a pure pleasure to experience this historical event from a gaming perspective. Check out the awesome film after the click, just make sure you prepare yourself for total carnage!
