Dreams in the Witch House is a point & click/RPG made by the Finnish developer Atom Brain Games. It’s based on the Lovecraft mythos, and in my personal opinion, they absolutely nail the feeling from the stories – which of course has the effect of enteral suffering on me since I now have to wait patiently for the full release.

Selaco – Demo Impressions
Selaco is a first-person boomer shooter running on GZDoom, and it’s made by the developer team Altered Orbit Studios. It’s bloody, very fast, and very retro-pixel, but is it good? Going by the demo, the game shows great potential, yet, it stumbles a bit on the actual shooter part, which to me is perplexing. Then again, maybe I’m not the audience for this.

Broken Pieces is a third-person horror/adventure, in the style of the old Resident Evil games, with set camera angles, inventory management and popping monsters with your pistol. It’s being developed by the French team Elseware Experience. The camera angles isn’t as static as in the old survival horror games, and you don’t have to suffer tank-controls (even if I like those controls personally), but the experience feels old-school nonetheless in the short demo provided by Steam.

We Who Are About To Die is a top-down gladiator simulator in real time combat, with you controlling one gladiator. The controls and mechanics are very similar to Exanima. The developer is a sole dude named Jordy Lakiere, and the game, while somewhat janky is pretty impressive for a one-man show.

Subterrain: Mines of Titan is an turn-based tactical RPG set on the moon of Titan, and it’s made by the dev-team Pixellore Inc. My initial impression from the demo is that it’s very similar to Stoneshard, everything from the visual style, to general gameplay and survival mechanics – like having to eat and drink. Personally, I wouldn’t say this a bad thing, because both games look fantastic with great pixel-art. It looks very soothing for the eyes, especially with the awesome lighting system that helps setting the mood and graphical richness. Yeah, I’m a sucker for this kind of visuals.
