Crysis 2: Remastered – New York Vacation

I was going to review the normal edition of Crysis 2, but as luck will have it, Humble Bundle had an awesome bundle filled with first-person sci-fi shooters for a really low price. The bundle included Crysis 2 Remastered, so, here we are. The major difference is the visuals, as everything else (at least from what I can remember) is exactly the same. Even the annoying tutorial messages that never let up. Yes, I know I can look around a corner with the left mouse-button, game! However, I have to say now already, with the new graphic rendering, Crysis 2 looks absolutely stunning.

Join the Airborne Rangers!

I noticed this little gem on X while scrolling through my usual junk. It’s a reimagining of a game from all the way back in 1987, called Airborne Ranger. And from what I have read, and seen from the trailers, it sure looks promising. A friend I showed the game to said it reminded him of Hidden & Dangerous, mixed with Men of War. I have to say, I agree with him, but I would like to add some Metal Gear Solid V into this blend. Airborne Ranger: FightOut promises a lot – from stealth, to tactical milsim stuff, all made for either solo play, or co-op up to four players. Since we haven’t had a good game in this style for ages, I’ll stay optimistic and look forward to it! I must add that it’s not out yet, and I didn’t notice a date anywhere. But I have a feeling we won’t have to wait for long. Check out the trailer below.

Crowned In Steel – Demo Impressions

The Conan simulator is here, or at least the demo. I would love to state that Crowned In Steel does a remarkable job at what it set out to do, but I had some minor problems with it. Which, to be fair, is probably a skill issue from my side. So, while it does a fine job looking, and feeling the part, the gameplay is a bit confusing to my old brain, and does not entirely sync with the combat.

Resident Evil Revelations – Nautical Zombies

As with many games being ported from a hand-held gaming device, Resident Evil Revelations feels and looks a bit under-cooked for a PC release. That doesn’t mean the game is bad, but it means it comes with certain quirks, much like the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker release for Xbox 360. The maps are confined, and fairly linear with a minimum of exploration, on top of the dreaded episodic nature of the levels (to be played on the go). Despite this, I had some fun with this title, as I find the CAPCOM zombie survival campiness entertaining, especially with their proven third-person controls.

Gothic 1 Remake – Demo Impressions

The first demo that was released a couple of years ago for the Gothic 1 Remake wasn’t met with much positivity. It had awkward combat, with what I remember, pretty stale dialogue. So, have the Spanish team Alkimia Interactive learned anything from the feedback provided then? Well, I’m glad to say: a resounding yes. The demo now feels like a totally different game from the old release, much more in line with the classic Gothic title. The tone, and feel of it is there, and the combat system has changed for something much more fun!
