What is Tiberium? – Command & Conquer Lore

After once again getting into the wonderful world of Command & Conquer, I decided I needed a primer on Tiberium. What the hell is it, and why does everyone want it? In short, it’s the foreign substance that bands the franchise together, and is the cause for everything that happens in it. It’s both a blessing, and a curse upon mankind, which is part of why I have always loved this aspect of the series. But, what exactly is this green substance?

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun – Green Armageddon

Climb into your Tiberium proof suit, because we are heading for the ecological apocalypse of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. This is one of the more unique settings of the franchise, a setting that unfortunately fell off a little in the future games. In Tiberian Sun we get to experience battles in the Tiberium wastelands of Earth in this direct sequel. And what a sequel it is. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn was a cool game, and certainly sets up the story and lore. However, compared to Tiberian Sun it feels a little mundane looking back, seeing as that conflict took place in the 90s with mostly conventional weapons and vehicles. Tiberian Sun is a totally different beast that plays into what I love about sci-fi with a war theme: a dystopian world, filled with wondrous tech, but rests on the brink of destruction.

Drone Sector – Playtest Impressions

Do you remember the missions in Call of Duty where you controlled a gunship with missiles and 20mm gatling guns? Well, now we have Drone Sector coming with this exact premise, but made into a full experience – with way less scripting and more to play around with. I always thought these missions were fun in the setting of Call of Duty, having the firepower for ultimate destruction from a God’s eye view. So, is the translation to a complete game any fun and worth the effort? Let’s find out.

The Descendant – Blast from the Past

If you ever want to play a somewhat forgotten sci-fi adventure in the style of the Telltale games, I got something special for you. It’s hard not to notice where The Descendant got its inspirations, seeing as many things work exactly like the typical Telltale adventure. It has characters that will “remember” things you do, it has a very heavy focus on story, and it’s fairly easy, going by point & click terms. If you hate these kinds of games, this will do nothing for you. However, if you, like me, loves a good dramatic narrative from time to time that does not have Dark Souls level of challenging gameplay, this is certainly something to pick up.

My Top 10 RPGs with Fixed Parties on PC

Hello, and welcome to another top ten. The last time, I presented a top ten list over RPGs with a custom-made party. So, a list of RPGs with a fixed party feels like a natural pick for the next. I can’t say that there will be too many surprises on this list, seeing that I’m as much of a pleb as the next guy when it comes to taste.

While I do love my RPGs with a created crew. I can’t deny the allure of a well crafted story with intriguing pre-made companions, as it adds another dimension to roleplaying. That cool and collected lawful good Paladin that you like, might not see too kindly to your murder-hobo ways for loot. It forces a natural choice of character of whom you want to be and accomplish. Who will you align with – the forces of good, or the snakes in the grass?

Just like the first list, if a game isn’t on it, which you think should be, it’s because I haven’t played it, or I just didn’t like it. It’s that simple. The criteria for the games are: The game must feature a party, from at least two and up, and they must be integral to the story. Players also need to retain control over the party members when it comes to battles, and progression. Let’s begin!
