Urban Strife finally has a release date!

It’s been a long time coming, several years, actually. But finally, Urban Strife has a release date, and it will be released on the 10th of December this year. However, in life, nothing can just be pleasant. You see, I was certain whenever Urban Strife would grace us with its presence, it would be in the form of a full 1.0 release. Ready for us to dig in and blast zombies all day. Alas, it isn’t so. It will be an Early Access release, with the game being far from finished. While I’m glad it’s finally coming out, I can’t help but feel that this timeline is a bit cursed.

GOG launches a game preservation program

It sure is interesting times. However, jaded as I am when it comes to this industry, I can’t help to think this is being made in response to the Steam/DRM/ownership debacle as some kind of business opportunity. Regardless, it’s a good initiative, with their mission consisting of making sure the old classics work forever and ever. To be a little crass, perhaps, but shouldn’t that be a thing already for GOG? Once again, not trying to be negative here, seeing as this is a good thing. Yet, I can’t help myself to ask these questions.

Xenonauts 2 with a PS4 controller [Steam]

Yeah, this might come off as heretical, but sometimes I do enjoy playing games in front of the big TV on the comfy sofa. The only problem is that most good games are for PC now, and some genres do not support gamepads. However, with the Steam input controller anything is possible, regardless of the game having native support or not. And as it is, which is not too surprising, Xenonauts 2 does not have support for a gamepad. Here comes Steam to the rescue!

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – Red Island Menace

Soldier, strap on your boots and load your rifle. The commies are looking for a fight! And this time, it’s not the North Koreans. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a really weird game. It’s a continuation of the classic Operation Flashpoint franchise, but now with Bohemia Interactive out of the picture. So, Codemasters decided to make their own version. The game has a slight schizophrenic feel to it, as it at times does feel like OPF of old. The engine used, and the scale and sandbox freedom is almost a carbon copy. In some places it’s improved upon, and works even better than Bohemia’s Arma series. For example, having units clearing buildings and shooting from windows. What makes it an oddity, is the console focus, and above all, the mission design.

The Raven Remastered – Raving mad Ravens

The Raven Remastered is a remaster of The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief. A game I have never played, meaning that this article will not reference that title at all, and will be a stand-alone review. The Raven Remastered is a point & click adventure game that takes heavy inspirations from the detective stories by Agatha Christie. If you ever read anything by her, or watched any movies based on her works, you will come to recognize plenty of stuff. However, this is of no problem, and actually enhances the superb atmosphere. I was ready to rate this game a five out of five in entertainment value, despite a few issues, but then the ending comes along…
