I played some more Xenonauts 2, even though I have said to myself that I won’t touch it until milestone 5. It’s just too much fun when you are in the mood for some X-com-like action, but don’t want to go full autism mode. Anyway, I decided to try the zoom function a bit, and boy. There are so many details that go missing when you play at the default perspective. The models of the units, and the environment are very elaborate with markings of uniforms, detailed faces of humans, and alien features that you otherwise wouldn’t see, or take notice of. Here is an example of the fine texture work:

Naturally, this more zoomed in viewpoint comes with an issue. And that is: you see a lot less of the battlefield while gawking at the juicy surroundings. Now, this is not really a problem in a turn-based game. Yet, my brain is wired in weird ways that constantly scream for me to get a bigger view of the combat zone. It’s kinda funny having to fight this urge, while at the same time enjoying the increased details. You would think it would balance itself out, but nope! And it’s not the first time this happened to me, either. Regardless, I just thought I would make a note of the fine texture work. I recommend zooming in now and then to take a look at things, and just enjoy the work presented before you!
[The keys for zooming in are PAGE UP, and PAGE DOWN for zooming out. There are 3 stages to the magnifying, with the middle one being the default.]
Thanks for reading.
