Urban Strife finally has a release date!

It’s been a long time coming, several years, actually. But finally, Urban Strife has a release date, and it will be released on the 10th of December this year. However, in life, nothing can just be pleasant. You see, I was certain whenever Urban Strife would grace us with its presence, it would be in the form of a full 1.0 release. Ready for us to dig in and blast zombies all day. Alas, it isn’t so. It will be an Early Access release, with the game being far from finished. While I’m glad it’s finally coming out, I can’t help but feel that this timeline is a bit cursed.

2024, the year of X-com-likes

The X-com genre hasn’t exactly been dead, so I can’t say 2024 is the year it will make a glorious comeback, but hot damn, there sure are a lot of games coming out in the genre making it somewhat of an event. For X-com aficionados the world over it’s going to be a very busy year with a lot of turn-based tactical combat and the building of bases. Now, I can’t say for certain that all these titles will come out this year, but the prognoses are looking good for many of the games. I will list the games under three categories. Games that are set for a 2024 release (according to Steam), games with a more unclear release, and then games that are out already. Here we go!

Resident Evil 4 [Remake]: Separate Ways – Ada, my love!

It’s time to return to sunny and plagas infected Spain. So, suit up and arm yourself with the best weapons available! Separate Ways is a ten-euro DLC/expansion for Resident Evil 4, and honestly, for that price, I thought it was going to be a cheap cash grab, but boy, I was entirely wrong. Positively surprised by AAA gaming in these apocalyptic days? Yes, apparently, it is still possible.

Resident Evil 4 [Remake] – Welcome to Spanish Village Life

Welcome to the beautiful country of Spain. Here you will never go cold, as Spain is the country of the sun! To make sure your vacation here will be one to remember, don’t for any reason anger the locales. They do not like outsiders much. If by any chance this happens, be sure to keep a health-spray handy, and run like hell unless you want to get uncomfortable close to the Las Plagas. And you don’t want that!

Resident Evil 4 (remake) is one of the better remakes that has been made and does not feel like a pure cash grab on our dear nostalgia. However, even if I enjoyed it, I can’t help to feel that in the end, it’s just a huge waste of time narrative-wise – as the franchise treads water in the same old murky pool that we already have splashed around in for years. Regardless, it’s a fun well-made game, with a few niggling issues that stand out from the original. Let’s see what it is all about.

Echoes of the Living – Demo Impressions

There has been a revival of survival horror in the last couple of years, but very few games have mimicked the original controls and camera control (tank controls & fixed camera angles). MoonGlint with their game Echoes of the Living aims to change that, so let’s see how they managed so far in their demo.
