Terminator 2D: NO FATE – Launch Trailer [Trailer]

Boy, this one looks fun! Especially for someone that adores the two first movies. While I find Terminator, the better film of the two, Terminator 2 is no slouch when it comes to the action. Terminator 2D: NO FATE is essentially the whole plot line of the sequel—now in the form of a sleek looking 2D platformer made in exquisite pixel art. The atmosphere, world detail and the animations look to be absolutely top-notch going by the trailer. It’s set to release in two days (12th) from now on Steam—so make sure to warm up the mini-gun in time! Check out the cool trailer after the jump.

Terminator: Resistance – Terminating the Terminators

The one big thing Terminator: Resistance got over Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is that it’s set in the original Terminator movie timeline. That means it has the cool aesthetics from the Cameron films. John Connor is still kicking around and is leading the resistance in the future war against the silver Terminators, who look as menacing as ever. Sadly, beyond the cool visuals, this game is somewhat of a pain to play and in general a disappointment. I would also consider it highly overrated, seeing as it sits at a ninety-one approval rating on Steam. I can understand the appeal, and I too was into it at the beginning, but the whole experience is filled with awkward design decisions that in the end completely sink the title.

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance (still not a review)

As promised, I decided to give Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance another go, and right from the onset, I felt way more in tune with the gameplay and story. In other words, I was having fun, even on realistic, which is the hardest difficulty setting. On a side note, the reason I play on “realistic” is that I don’t enjoy it when games give me extra protection. In realistic mode, everyone takes the same amount of damage. It’s something of a pet peeve of mine. I even made a mod back in the day for Men of War: Assault Squad 2 since its difficulty slider was broken. In that game, your men are basically super soldiers from a Marvel movie, and if you increase the difficulty, which to be fair fixes the issue, the game starts to spam enemy tanks every ten seconds. Not so much fun. I fixed this in my mod by making equal and fair damage across the board for all units on lower difficulties. No bonuses and no spam! Anyway, back to Terminator.

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance [Quick Impressions]

Welcome to the weird Terminator future, where John Connor gets assassinated on a beach and never becomes the grand general in the war against the machines – in other words, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is based on the ridiculous Terminator reboot timeline. To me, this is a big strike against the game, but honestly, while in-game, it’s mostly a question of aesthetics. Which, to be fair, can make or break a game, but here it’s mostly a minor disappointment, then stay-away annoying. For example, the units you control look like typical modern US marines, instead of the cool sci-fi and Vietnam-inspired badass soldiers from Terminator 2.
