Solasta 2 – We are pretty now!

One of the critiques for Solasta: Crown of the Magister was how “ugly” the characters were for the game. Everyone from random NPCs and important plot related characters to your custom-made dungeon crawler crew. It didn’t bother me too much considering it’s a  top-down-tactical experience, even if I admit they could look a bit funky at times. Especially everything connected to hair, specifically beards. This is now fixed, as a result of the engine switch (Unity to Unreal 5), I would assume.

Urban Strife – Early Access Impressions

What is better than starting the new year with some zombie slaughtering? Many things to be fair, but beggars can’t be choosers, right? So zombie massacring it is! Urban Strife can best be compared to Dead State, as both games are turn-based tactics and follow the same premise: endure the zombie apocalypse with a ragtag group of hardened survivors. Dead State is a great game, but it came with some unfortunately tedious turn-based combat that at times turned the game to a slog. My main hope here, seeing as the combat is more in line with Jagged Alliance 2, was that Urban Strife would take the number one place as THE tactical zombie survivor game. And well, while I think the fighting is good, and much improved over Dead State, much of the other things feels lacking.

The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians – A Quick Look

I have not finished The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians yet, so this won’t be a proper review. I have a feeling it’s going to take me a long while to do so, but I already want to give my thoughts / praise for the game. I have made it halfway through so far, and it has been a blast. It’s also incredibly brutal occasionally. I can easily say that I overvalued my abilities of succeeding in old-school RPGs (going by the mechanics). I started on “hard”, with me quickly being put in my place. However, it’s in no way impossible, and it’s actually not that advanced – it’s just a good challenge.

Underrail 2: Infusion – Video Quickie

Stygian Software released a pretty hefty video from their upcoming sewer crawling apocalyptic RPG Underrail 2: Infusion the other day. And I thought I would share it here, because it is certainly something to keep an eye on. Beyond the cool & soothing isometric camera angle, the environments, and the lighting, it looks great. A solid upgrade from Underrail

Deus Ex: The Fall – Falling Sideways

If we go by Steam, Deus Ex: The Fall is not a popular game. I wouldn’t be surprised if you found its name next to “disliked” in the dictionary. However, that was then, and while it seems it had a disastrous release on Steam—nowadays, it plays fairly well, and looks a lot like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, albeit visually limited with restrictions to the gameplay. This is because of its origin as a mobile/tablet game, which speaks for itself. Even if I didn’t outright dislike or hate the game like most people, it does have some problems, making it questionable if it’s even worth playing. Let me explain.
