Twin Peaks: Into the Night Impressions

Now this is a treat. A game based on the TV series Twin Peaks with a PS1 graphic style made in the vein of old survival horror games to boot. Boy, oh boy. Twin Peaks: Into the Night is an excellent demonstration of what could become something great in the future. However, as I see it there is one big complication attached here. I’m not talking about the production itself, but the licensing since the game doesn’t only borrow ideas from Twin Peaks, it is Twin Peaks! So, unless the developer Blue Rose Team plans to release the full game as something free, I don’t see how this could get made – yet stranger things have happened.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – Very Early Impressions

Like many others, I sat ready to play on release day with two main differences. I never really got caught up in the hype even if I was now eager to try it out, and I won my copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 (by luck), which removes the monetary investment from the equation. I think the money transfer clouds our judgment, I know it does for me sometimes. AAA games are expensive, especially nowadays. Can a game that cost this much and has been this hyped by bad? I must be playing it wrong – type of deal.

Xenonauts 2 [Early Access] – Round Two

I just finished the Early Access 180-day romp of Xenonauts 2 once again, and I got to say, I’m much more favorable to it this time. All in all, I just had a really swell time battling the aliens. The story is shaping up to be something more interesting beyond “the aliens are coming”. The battles are fun, and so are all the research and upgrades you can get for your men and vehicles (air fleet included).

Just going by that, I highly recommend the game, it is an improvement over Xenonauts, and you can’t be too picky when you are a lover of the X-com-like genre in the first place. However, Xenonauts 2 suffers currently from one major issue, and I’m afraid if this is not remedied it will make the whole alien-blasting adventure feel utterly lackluster.

Xenonauts 2 – Early Access Impressions

With Xenonauts 2 soon coming out in early access (18 July), I thought I would give it another go and give my impressions. The reason that I’m able to play it now already is that I was a backer on Kickstarter. It has been an incredibly long road since then with many up and downs. But I’m glad the end is near, as a release is finally approaching, even if it’s only the early access kind. So, how is it, is it worth the wait? Will it be a better game than Xenonauts?

Miasma Chronicles – Quick Impressions

I was going to do a proper review of Miasma Chronicles since the combat and the world seemed interesting enough. However, the further I got into the game, the more apparent it becomes that it suffers from some seriously baffling design decisions. This cut my game time rather short as I just can’t be bothered with this type of gameplay anymore. I will explain.
