Iron Tower’s future plans [Part II]

Way back in February this year, I wrote that Iron Tower is working on a new Battle Brothers inspired and Lovecraft themed game. However, nothing was being set in stone thanks to financial issues. While nothing is guaranteed yet, it seems things have perked up slightly, going by their latest post on Steam, called Future Plans, Part II.

Not too much is being shared, but it seems they are busy working towards their spanking new title, making good progress doing so using Unreal 5 [gulp]. Even praising the engine for its ease of use to create worldmaps (landscaping?). It does make me wonder: will it be a fully 3D game, or a top-down tactical one? Who knows, but I’m looking forward to more info, since this will probably be right up my alley, compared to their earlier outings.

Well, at least things are looking brighter, and I wish them all the luck. I hope this game becomes a slam-dunk!

Hell is Us – The free comic! [Quick review]

Hell is Us is soon to be released. The fourth of September, so less than two weeks. It’s one of the few semi-high production games I look forward to, and might actually buy on release day, since I truly enjoyed the demo. If that happens, it will be a first in many years for me, which feels like a nostalgic blast from the past when this was more commonplace. Now, onto the comic. In a previous post, I told you about a free comic they were planning to release. To explain why our protagonist, Rémi, left the Peace Corps, seeing as the game starts with us wandering the dark Hadea forest alone, but in peacekeeper uniform.

Menace – Pushed back again!

Just read a quick update by Hooded Horse (the publisher) that Menace will not be released this year. Brutal! I think it was set for an Early Access release, and I remember reading it would be out in 2024 already. That’s game development for you, I guess. However, it’s not all bad news, as a demo is being promised for September. If we go by the title of the Steam post that announced this. So, a while more before we get to experience Overhype Studio’s new game for real, but a small taste next month, hopefully!

Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown [Teaser]

Now, this is not what I was expecting going through the AAA slop coming out of Gamescom. A game that might actually be fun. Once again, Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is set during one of the better shows, which I think is great, but also hilarious. It seems developers and publishers have zero faith in that anything created in the modern Star Trek era would sell. I don’t blame them. It feels a little like the curse of Star Wars, in how nobody wants to make a game in the Disney era – with everyone looking back to the glory days instead.

About the game itself, it looks to be some kind of strategy space survival, where you get to re-live the TV-show, making your own choices, instead of letting Captain Janeway run the ship. Could be fun, could be total toast, but more Star Trek is never bad. Trailer after the jump!

My Top 10 ZOMBIE games on PC

Ah, zombies! The most overused modern monster in any medium. Despite that, I can’t get enough of the zombie apocalypse. However, in my opinion, most creators miss the mark by turning their projects into mindless zombie slaughters, without any of the famous tension or civilization-ending dread from the Romero days. Yet, there are some titles that headshot their way to great atmosphere and storytelling!

So, here are my Top 10 Zombie Games for PC.
