Urban Strife finally has a release date!

It’s been a long time coming, several years, actually. But finally, Urban Strife has a release date, and it will be released on the 10th of December this year. However, in life, nothing can just be pleasant. You see, I was certain whenever Urban Strife would grace us with its presence, it would be in the form of a full 1.0 release. Ready for us to dig in and blast zombies all day. Alas, it isn’t so. It will be an Early Access release, with the game being far from finished. While I’m glad it’s finally coming out, I can’t help but feel that this timeline is a bit cursed.

Here is some info from the one of the devs himself over at RPG Codex:

Mechanics are pretty solid. We want to add initiative to stealth encounters but that’s going to be a priority and will come fast. We need to add the script to about 6 mid tier maps and write the end game stuff (we want alternate endings depending on your discoveries). The maps themselves need polish and testing, maybe fixes if QA says so. We lack a lot of QoL features though, game options now is a pretty much an empty page. There’s balancing to be done, localizations, etc, a lot of nitty-gritty stuff that makes a finished product. And modding SDK and documentation on top.

Generally the game needs PLAYERS. And feedback. Working in a closed environment becomes unhealthy after so many years. We’ll be running a stable build in the public branch for those who just want to play for fun and keep up a community beta branch with the latest stuff accessible to those who wish to see where we’re headed and what stage we’re at.

As you can see, the game isn’t exactly close to being finished. Either way, I wish them success, so we don’t get a cool game with good mechanics forever trapped in the Early Access swamp. They also released a release date trailer, which you can see below:

Not much new, but the setting alone should push a few copies, and the clear Jagged Alliance 2 inspired combat that is on display.
