We are back here once again. This time it involves the game Valfaris on Steam. A game I bought in a Fanatical bundle back in 2022. Today, the developer suddenly decided to revoke my game, essentially removing my game from my digital library on Steam. A product that I paid for.

I don’t care that much about Valfaris, I don’t think I have even started it. However, it’s the principle of the thing. That a game that I handed over money for, can and apparently will be revoked at the whim of the developer – two years down the line. It’s baffling to me. It’s like if someone would break into your home, go through your physical game collection on your bookshelf, take the game they want back and leave with nothing in compensation. Now, it seems this issue will get resolved, since the developer made a statement on Steam. But that’s beside the point. Why can this even happen in the first place? Why does the developer have the power to remove games from my library, regardless of where I bought it?
Oh well, consider it another warning. Your ownership of digital titles will always be in question, regretfully.
