Boy, can it get worse? Probably. At least in this episode, they acknowledge that Master Chief is just a grunt, and should not have any kind of special knowledge, or privilege from Fleetcom. Like all soldiers, he should follow orders, and do what he is told. However, as seen, John can’t just help himself. He gets hunches of bad things, and his PTSD from fighting aliens seems to be all too much for him to function properly as a tool of doom. So he steals planes and makes up fake missions for his team…
As usual, this episode had me nodding off. I can’t believe how well the Halo TV show series works as a sleeping aid. Everyone whispers when they talk, and the scenes are always shot in the dimmest of lights. The plot meanders away at a snail’s pace, and it’s all so uninteresting. The thing with Halsey, being in some kind of ONI prison feels very off. I don’t think the reason why has even been established yet, and she is about to be forced to hang out with a former pupil of hers – the dreaded ex-Spartan now turned pirate King. It’s being built up as dramatic, as the episode ends with this as a cliffhanger, but it just makes me yawn. Are we supposed to care for her, or believe that he will punish her in any way? They will most likely team up.
There is no tension or stakes, we are just told that things are dire, but very little is shown. Apparently, it has been decided that the planet Reach holds no value – you know, the planet that holds a big part of humanity’s fleet-building capacity. It has been deemed indefensible by ONI and abandoned. The civilians and military forces on the planet are being left to die. Maybe humanity in this universe deserves to die because what is shown in this show is that humans are not fighting back at all. They are bending over to the aliens. In the book, and above all, the game, the battle for Reach is fierce and a desperate one. Now, the battle has not been shown yet in the show, but the initial take on this conflict doesn’t fill me with confidence that it will be anything special or cool.
The bullshit with the Asian girl and the pirate Queen continues, being as drab as ever. Nobody cares about these characters, and they have little to do with Halo. Just flush them out of the airlock already. It’s funny how the Asian girl has somehow turned to Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. Taking out dudes from the shadows, with no regard for life. Are we supposed to sympathize with her and her murderous ways?
Oh well, the torture continues, but I can’t stop watching. I guess, it’s because of the trainwreck nature of the show, and I am a bit curious how they will continue to massacre the Halo lore. I actually feel a bit embarrassed that this is what the normie is being presented as being Halo. My mother also watches the show, and after each episode, I get a strong urge to explain everything wrong with it – how the lore and story are supposed to work!
Anyway, until next time. Thanks for reading.
