Like all soldiers, he should follow orders, and do what he is told. However, as seen, John can’t just help himself. He gets hunches of bad things, and his PTSD from fighting aliens seems to be all too much for him to function properly as a tool of doom. So he steals planes and makes up fake missions for his team…
