When it comes to games inspired by Lovecraft, you kinda know what to expect nowadays. There will be references to cosmic horror, madness, and cults, and the environments will have plenty of nautical elements. Call of Cthulhu by Cyanide Studio is no different. Besides the trope checklist, is it still a good experience? I would say yes, even if this kind of story has been told before. The writing is solid, and at times it actually felt true to the source material, which helps with the immersion.

Subterrain: Mines of Titan – Demo Impressions
Subterrain: Mines of Titan is an turn-based tactical RPG set on the moon of Titan, and it’s made by the dev-team Pixellore Inc. My initial impression from the demo is that it’s very similar to Stoneshard, everything from the visual style, to general gameplay and survival mechanics – like having to eat and drink. Sniper Elite 5 is an action/stealth game by Rebellion, and there is with some excitement I press the play button, considering Sniper Elite 4 is one of my favorite modern stealth games. It’s an RPG in the same vein of the original Fallout, actually, it is much more than that, it’s like Space Wreck killed Fallout and now wears it as a skin-suit, even if the setting is completely different. I don’t mean it in a bad way necessarily, but everything, from the opening intro, to the door opening in first person view with accompanying sound effect, and music is almost copied 1 to 1, in tone at least. That is the impression I got, anyway. But besides that, does it manage to live up to what it tries to replicate?

Wartales is a tactical turn-based RPG by Shiro Games. It’s easiest described as a mix between Battle Brothers, Mount & Blade, and Darklands, and like those you create a mercenary group to set out for riches, power, or maybe even infamy. Recently they released a major update for their game, so I thought – why not give it a go (again)? And here I am giving my impressions after clocking in 22 hours or so, which to be fair has me only scraping off a bit of the top of the content provided. It’s a big game already!
